An Introduction to Applied and Environmental Geophysics, 2nd Edition, describes the rapidly developing field of near-surface geophysics. The book covers a range of applications including mineral, hydrocarbon and groundwater exploration, and emphasises the use of geophysics in civil engineering and in environmental investigations. Following on from the international popularity of the first edition, this new, revised, and much expanded edition contains additional case histories, and descriptions of geophysical techniques not previously included in such textbooks. The level of mathematics and physics is deliberately kept to a minimum but is described qualitatively within the text. Relevant mathematical expressions are separated into boxes to supplement the text. The book is profusely illustrated with many figures, photographs and line drawings, many never previously published. Key source literature is provided in an extensive reference section; a list of web addresses for key organisations is also given in an appendix as a valuable additional resource. Covers new techniques such as Magnetic Resonance Sounding, Controlled- Source EM, shear-wave seismic refraction, and airborne gravity and EM techniques ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE - University of Washington UW TACOMA DIVISION OF SCIENCES AND MATHEMATICS ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE Detailed course offerings (Time Schedule) are available for Spring Quarter 2017 Undergraduate Education Resources USGS Educational resources for undergraduate level teachers and students from the USGS Near-surface geophysics - Wikipedia Near-surface geophysics is the use of geophysical methods to investigate small-scale features in the shallow (tens of meters) subsurface It is closely related to A Background to Shallow Geophysical Methods with Applied A Background to Shallow Geophysical Methods with Applied Engineering & Environmental Case Studies Applied Geology degree: Curtin University Course overview Geologists study how the Earth works including the natural planetary processes and issues directly affecting people such as viability of resources Applied Mathematics Applied Physics and Applied Math Applied Mathematics Faculty Guillaume Bal Daniel Bienstock IEOR & APAM Mark Cane EESC & APAM Qiang Du Applied Math Program Committee Chair & Applied Mathe The Berkeley Course in Applied Geophysics The Berkeley Course in Applied Geophysics former appliedgeophysicsberkeleyedu Introduction to Borehole Geophysics - USGS Borehole geophysics is the science of recording and analyzing measurements of physical properties made in wells or test holes Probes that measure different What is Geophysics? - Environmental and Engineering What is Geophysics?
